Sol Plaatje University (SPU) is preparing to host Research Week 2026 from 14-18 September 2026, bringing together academics, researchers and students for a week of research, learning, dialogue, collaboration and celebration.
With the theme “Research. Innovation. Collaboration. Impact.”, this year’s Research Week provides an opportunity for the SPU community to come together and reflect on the important work being undertaken across the University, while creating space for new ideas, partnerships and opportunities.
Research Week has been designed as a university-wide platform that brings academics and students together. It will showcase research excellence, strengthen research capacity, provide opportunities for students and staff to share their work, and create conversations around innovation, funding, collaboration and research impact.
What to expect:
The week will feature a diverse programme, including:
- SPU’s Research Vision and Research Excellence Showcase
- Research Capacity Development activities
- Academic Staff and Student Conference
- Research Funding, Collaboration and Impact sessions
For our students, Research Week provides an opportunity to see research in action, learn from experienced researchers, showcase their own work and engage with fellow students and academics. For our academic community, it offers a space to share achievements, exchange knowledge, strengthen networks and inspire the next generation of researchers.
The Research Office, therefore, invites everyone at SPU to participate – whether by presenting research, attending a session, supporting our students and staff, engaging in discussions or simply coming along to learn and connect.
We look forward to welcoming the SPU community and to creating a vibrant week of intellectual exchange and celebration.
We look forward to hosting you at SPU Research Week 2026.
