The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Sol Plaatje University (SPU) Ms Annalene Marais, has been shortlisted for the Young Achiever of 2023 category at the 20th Annual Standard Bank Top Women Awards.
The ceremony is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, 7 November 2023, commencing at 17:00 at the Sandton Convention Centre. This year’s theme is ‘My Africa’, and the event aims to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of female trailblazers and the organisations that bolster and empower them.
“I am thrilled to be selected as a finalist and honoured by the chance to interact with such influential figures across diverse sectors,” said Ms Marais.
The award recognises the outstanding achievements of emerging female leaders. Nominees are chosen from a varied array of successful young women who exhibit innovative strategies and act as beacons of motivation for their peers, contributing significantly to their organisation’s performance. This accolade is bestowed upon motivated, entrepreneurial-spirited candidates with notable commercial insight and a strategic outlook, whose commitment to developing their enterprise, creating job opportunities, and fostering economic advancement is evident.
“Being an executive, it’s important to remain relevant, not only in the institution you are working for, but in the broader context of the sector you represent. In my case, this would be the financial space. Of course, being chosen as a finalist also means that I get to showcase Sol Plaatje University, and the great things that the University is achieving,” stated Ms Marais.
SPU extends heartfelt congratulations to Ms Marais on her nomination and best wishes for her success. She will be attending the ceremony alongside Prof Andrew Crouch, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of SPU.
