On behalf of the Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students of Sol Plaatje University, I extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Professor Tandi Matsha-Erasmus, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU).
Professor Matsha-Erasmus was a respected higher education leader, accomplished researcher and principled academic whose contribution to the advancement of higher education in South Africa will be remembered with great appreciation. Her influence extended beyond the institutions she served, enriching the sector through her commitment to academic development, research excellence and the cultivation of future leaders.
We convey our deepest sympathies to the Council, Management, Staff and Students of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University as they mourn the loss of an esteemed leader. Sol Plaatje University stands with the SMU community during this time of bereavement.
Our thoughts are also with Professor Matsha-Erasmus’ family, friends and loved ones. May they find comfort in the remarkable legacy she leaves behind and in the many lives she touched throughout her distinguished career.
