Varsity Shield: A Historic Milestone

Sol Plaatje University (SPU) is proud to announce its historic qualification for the prestigious 2025 Varsity Shield Rugby tournament. This marks the first time our First Team has secured a place in this elite competition, a testament to their dedication and exceptional performance.

This year, SPU will host the opening ceremony and the first match, where our team will face FNB UKZN on 14 February 2025 at 17:00 at Suzuki Stadium. Other exciting home games include:

• 21 February: FNB SPU vs FNB CPUT at 17:00
• 28 February: FNB SPU vs FNB Varsity College at 19:00
• 28 March: FNB SPU vs FNB UWC at 17:00

We invite all first-year students to rally behind our team and be part of this historic journey. Attend the games, participate in activations, and cheer loudly to build a spirit of unity, pride, and togetherness. Your support is vital in making match days vibrant and unforgettable.
