SPU hosts exciting and insightful programme at this year’s Orientation Week

Sol Plaatje University’s (SPU) Division of Student Affairs (DSA) held a jam-packed, fun-filled Orientation Week for first-time entering students at the SPU’s Central and South Campuses with events also taking place at the Windhoek Lager Stadium from 13-17 February 2023.

SPU Central Campus was abuzz as students took part in an array of activities comprising of various academic and social events. Students learned about a wide range of campus resources and student support services as well as being introduced to the Peer Mentorship Programme and Peer Educator Programme. Students also had an opportunity to interact with senior students and departmental staff about academic and social related offerings that will help guide them on the new journey they’ve embarked on.

As part of the greater First-Year Experience Programme, Orientation Week is an important week on the university calendar, that is specifically designed to assist first-time entering students to acclimatize to student life as they transition into being in a new environment.

Dean of Student Affairs, Ms Nicole Morris, shared her welcome remarks to the cohort of first time entering students via www.spu.ac.za, she said, “Your presence this year is an accomplishment as you successfully navigated the ever-changing terrain from high school into the university displaying commitment to excellence, humility, and grit. In extending a warm-hearted congratulations in making it thus far, I want to reassure you that you made the right choice in choosing SPU in furthering your education”.

Ms Morris added that the DSA would be providing an array of extensive student support and developmental programmes which have been designed to ensure students unlock and reach their full potential towards excellence in their academic and professional careers.
