
Sol Plaatje University (SPU) staff members recently participated in the University Sports South Africa (USSA) Staff Games held at the University of Limpopo on 4 & 5 October 2024. This year’s games not only saw our staff team winning their first-ever gold medal in volleyball and a silver medal in Super Pool but also highlighted the unity and spirit of togetherness among colleagues. The event marked a significant achievement for the SPU staff team, showcasing the University’s commitment to providing a supportive and balanced work-life environment for its employees.
In a remarkable display of skill and determination, our volleyball team clinched their gold medal, by triumphing over the University of the Free State. This victory is a milestone in SPU’s participation at these games, highlighting the strength and resilience of our staff athletes. The Super Pool team also made an impressive debut, bringing home a silver medal after a hard-fought game against the University of Limpopo. Meanwhile, our netball and soccer teams demonstrated their dedication and teamwork, finishing in fourth place in their respective categories.
Staff participation in the USSA games goes beyond competition; it reflects SPU’s commitment to nurturing a culture of teamwork and holistic well-being.
