The month of June in South Africa is deeply rooted in history. This year marks the 47th anniversary of the 16 June 1976 student uprising in Soweto when young people protested the imposition of Afrikaans by the apartheid regime as a medium of instruction.
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering critical engagement, Sol Plaatje University (SPU) will conclude its commemoration of this month by hosting a Youth Month Virtual Dialogue for the Youth – by the Youth on Thursday, 29 June 2023 from 16h00 to 17h30 with the theme, “Accelerating Youth Economic Emancipation for a Sustainable Future”.
Our distinguished panel includes the youth of SPU: Nonofo Quinton Oliphant, the SRC 2022/23 Academic Affairs Officer; Chad Lucas, the National EDHE Studentpreneur CoP Chairperson and SPU Economic Activation Officer: Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Research (CEDAR); and Keneilwe Goeieman, an SPU alumnus and Founder of Keneilwe Lactation, currently working as a Service Experience Initiatives Manager at Standard Bank.
Join us on Facebook Live for this insightful engagement for the youth, by the youth of 2023.
